You're correct, of course. I think I'm conflating this with MM9....

    I'm fairly certain that the save files (*.mm6) and new.lod have the exact same structure, and I think I recall that the counter for each map in stored in a table in each save file. You ~might~ be able to edit them with Elrond's editor or another editing tool. Elrond's editor can be found at the link below.
