Hades is without doubt the best sword in the game, but I reckon that either a Lionheart Sword, a Mighty Broadsword, or a Master Cutlass, with an "of the Dragon" enchantment is a better option.If you want to maximise damage, spells are the way to go. Most damage from one spell is achieved by Finger of Death (obviously!) and Mass Distortion, but neither is reliable, and they don't work on monsters immune to magic. Most reliable high damage is obtained from Shrapmetal cast by a sorcerer maxed out for Dark Magic. There are not many monsters immune to physical damage, which is what Shrapmetal delivers in this game.
