. . . you have bought and paid for the game, it's your property, and you should be entitled to do what you want with it as long as you don't intend to either (a) clone it and sell copies, or (b) resell the game and keep playing it. In strict legal interpretation, you might be breaking the license, but I cannot see that it is morally wrong. All you want to do is play the game without interference. In my opinion, companies like Steam are totally unwanted interfering interlopers. Absolutely and positively the last thing I want is a company able to access my computer in a way that is not under my control. I don't want anything to do with them. I'm thinking of getting Grimrock, but I'll buy it direct from the makers, not from Steam. If I can't do that, I'll do without it.
