To make a story short: I want an advice: which MM should I try to play first?

Now the longer version if you are not bored yet:
I have been a MM fan since MM7. I have finished MM6, MM7, mm8 and MM9 ( it was a bit of a disappointment compared to previous games ). I have tried to play MM3, but have not finished it (lost all saves with my PC). Now after a long time I found a site called gog.com and just got the might and magic full collection. Now I have all MM's from 1 to 9.

Any advice on which title should I be getting started? ( it has been too long, and it would take long, as now I would only enjoy it after work ). I have tried to glance at MM1 and MM2 and unfortunately it seems I'm not intelligent enough to play, so maybe I'll skip them.

I hope someone besides NSA reads this message and gives some advice to a novice. No big spoilers please. Small ones are wellcome
