... the only items you can enchant in this game are those which have no descriptors at all attached to them. For example, you can enchant a longsword, but you cannot enchant an iron longsword. If you go to the shop in Fountain Head, you ought to be able to buy plain ordinary weapons that you can enchant.That is why the ring you can buy from the woman living in one of those gypsy caravans near the Halls of Insanity can be important - it's the only unenchanted ring in the whole game, and so the only one you can enchant for yourself. Of course, it's advisable to duplicate it a few times before you start enchanting!
