Most wines seem to travel well, but a lot of beers don't.I've tried imported lagers a time or two when I've had the real stuff in the country where it's made. The only ones I remember that have stood up to being transported were Belgian beers in bottles. In fact, quite the worst pint of beer I've ever had was when I tried an English ale that had been exported to the Netherlands. It really didn't travel well.
There are exceptions, though. I was in Turkey a couple of years ago and found that there were some Turkish wines, so I tried a couple. If you ever go there, stick to Coke!
