Yes, I made the note. Actually I'm making notes whenever I see some inscription on the wall or when someone or something tells me something interesting, so I'm overnoted. Some of them looked really useful, as the 'search the walls of the Cathedral of Carnage for the secret code' or 'yellow key grants access to the Fortress of Fear'.
Wizard Eye? As soon as I got it (I found a scroll in a barrell under the Fountain Head) I cast it when getting up and whenever it runs out. And if I hadn't it, there is a seer in the wagon, who tells you some general things and gives the eye for the whole day for 10 gold.
Mephistoing? I thought it's called aggressive reloading, or AR. At least the Elf mentioned it somewhere faaar back ago as the aggressive reloading (and herself as the Queen of it ).
