And you're right about the attacks too. Many monsters have one or more "preferred enemies" and as long as those enemies are standing, the monster will attack them in preference to other characters. I can't remember them all now, but the undead in general will go for your cleric (and possibly your paladin), the bugaboos go for your sorcerer, and so on.
