Castle Alamos Crystal Access Problem

But when I go to the location where the entrance to the hallway where the crystal is supposed to be, I am not prompted for the password and I can't seem to get at that hallway. I've only seen one switch in the entire castle, which I pushed...is there something else I've not done?

    I feel as though I am completely stuck, because I obviously need the crystal in order to talk to the Oracle.
