BUT, the BEER, was worth the stress.
There is nothing to beat a pint of hand drawn real ale in and old oak beamed English Inn.Except perhaps a glass (or few) free "degustation de vin" in a French Vin Yard.

One Finnish brewery has started to make some quite acceptable Cider to an English (Devonshire) recipe using what they claim local grown cider apples.
I am not sure that the optional dead rats that the Devonshire farmers are reputed to throw in are allowed under EU rules.
