    I made a quick comparison between MM6 and 7. Don't have MM8 installed, but should be very similar.

    MM6:
    Female portraits named Girl A-D, Male portraits named Male A-H, 53 images each
    The whole character pic is called grl/ml-abod and grl/ml-barm

    MM7:
    Both male and female portraits are named PC01-25
    The whole character pic is called PCXXBod-Rh

    GOOD NEWS: BMP, bitmaps
    The size of the portraits is always the same [59x79, 256col, 5818bytes]
    The whole character image is different, but that's a minor problem, quickly fixed.
    [MM6 114x298 vs MM7 173x353 - both 256 colours]
