You shouldn't be able to do absolutely everything with any character in Morrowind, but you very nearly can. Everyone wants you to kill someone, you can join all the guilds that are supposed to be at each others' throats, and there are no interesting characters. It's huge and it feels horribly lonely.

The beginning is pointless; you learn that you were in jail and now the Empire wants you to work for them. Because... just because. I'm sure there's eventually a reason, but having to play the game for hours to find a reason for doing things is ridiculous. I never once forget that I'm playing a computer game, and after the ninth identical cave with people to kill in it for no particular reason, what's the point? Any true "role-playing" value you can wring out of it, you have to provide yourself.

Morrowind has some good points, but it feels like an incredibly long demo.
