Starting a solo lich

Getting started

    I got lucky and bought Cavalry bow at the store and two healing potions.

    Off to the training ground with obstacle course and jump into the water. Result - 3 x warrior dead *evil grin* I healed my Lich of course in the process

    the few initial monsters were easy to dispose off with a single toon. But I got mobbed once by 3 of them so needed to reload and take them on one by one.

    Killing them netted me whooping 400ish exp

Isle of Ashes

    He is a BIG help but somehow interferes with my idea of a solo gameplay but well...if I can get to live with the windowed mode I can live with him...

    Otoh he also gets his turn to hit which really gets on my nerves when I am casting my bolts or using the bow - basically in ranged combat he is useless and I have this feeling he delays my turn to cast / shoot.

    Able to train to clvl 5. short of 2800ish exp of clvl 6.

    Ready to leave the island but I just remembered something...

    Boring - no - I was watching news in the process. Lame - maybe. Profitable - of course!

    After half hour of multilooting the chest I got:
    - belt and helm with +5 elemental (my elemental bolt dmg went up instantly from 1 - 4 to 6 - 24 )
    - low level armour but with +20 elemental res
    - cudgel with +5 spirit - imo nice for a solo play for the better heal ability;
    - skill books: perception, dark, meditation and learning;
    - and this is the best part: 2 wands of chain lightning and 2 wands of poison clouds charges vary from 30 to 50
    - some trash I just picked up to later sell but not much and approx. 1500 gp so nothing to write home about.

    Plans for tonight when all asleep - multiloot a little more for some nice stuff - maybe some skill books, maybe some rings and something with +5 disarm...

    I will try to attemt the black chest there just for the sake of it. I do not think I can open it but I want to see for myself. I checked it out I can get there swimming underwater and jumpin on the passageway unseen by Banshees. Right before the door with the pentagram on the floor there are only 2 zombies which stand with their backs towards me and cannot see me so maybe with the wands and using element of surprise and lots of running I can pull it off.

    I went to Lindisfarne to see this dragon cave. Way there was dangerous. But i found a nice spot behind a big rock and Maghrebs could reach me there so poison cloud wand and elemental bolt made short (or rather long) work of them.

    Wizards otoh were a pain. I tok them on one by one, with elemental aura on. I would run up to a guy, cast poison cloud under his feet and run away...elemental aura would run off so I had to look for a safe spot to rest and heal and repeat ad nausea but they all went down, as they aways do eventually.

    Dragon cave is a pain. He instakillsme. but i noticed paralyze does work on him giving me those few precious seconds but the trap in chest kills me

    I need to get expert disarm and come back.

    I will try to multiloot the ches for the pendant of spheres, trollieri thrown dagger for the hp bonus and this little gold ring with hp bonus too.

consequences of dying and ID monster questions

    And ID monster skill must be bugged as I have basic id monster a slvl 1 and when pressing 'g' i can only see this small box with the name of the monster and nothing more. i could use just this bar with hp and this would make fights way more comfrtable for me.

    For me Mage promo is waay easier and less demanding for a solo scholar.

    Of course it required a lot of running to get the Book from the ruins but i pulled it off first time. if it hadn't been for Forad the Meatshield I wouldnt have done it

    And the +100 hp bonus from trollieri came in really handy.

    I also got some killing to get him to clvl 22. For a solo toon it is easy to amass exp.

    Skills: master elemental meditation and learning. expert disarm dark light spirit.

    FINALLY i got LB and TP going

    So with the 2 spells i can try to reach Yorwick for GM learning and...

    ...back to Strumford to do the quests

Mage is OK, but nowhere near as good as lich

But there is DI and u can cast it to your heart content

    The dmg only from PC and CL. The 2 spells are governed by elemental dmg- wise so u need only to pump elemental and dont have to spread yourself between dark AND elemental.

    Besides i finnished mm7 and mm8 with solo lich so maybe a time to try sth else...

Souldronker does not work in solo lich game.

    Vampires around connecting tunnels in tronhaim were disposed of using chain lightning. Forad REALLY helps as meat shield.

    Several years back when I played with Liches I was using TC exclusivvely but Chain Lightning is a very nice spellindeed offering different angle to combat.

Forad, npcs and solo game not being so solo after all

    And most importantly - kkc solution from 2006 to my artefact predicament worked!

    So my scholar has:
    - pendant of the spheres amulet
    - trollieri dagger
    - sturkabygel ring
    - walking boots and whichbane

    I got them from the black chests in Dranghheim, Training Hall, and of course - the dragon cave

    Currently at clvl 20, able to train to 26.

    Mm9 arena solo lich clv 60 - well i could have beaten it with a solo clvl 10 toon: a yeti a maghreb a bone dog thing and a soldiet.
