So after finding the sweet spot on various options I got the game to load and be playable on my new(er) win 7 computer. I have to alt-tab to fix the loading screen not removing itself but I can live with that i guess.

i was just wondering, since I know this is basically an unfinished game in many ways, whether or not its worth a playthrough. Like if i get half way or even *almost* to the end and i cant finish it i'd be pretty upset about sinking my dwindling free time into it.

Its the original retail CD (not the GoG release) and I patched it to 1.03a.

Any info would be great. Im gonna run around in game anyway for a while, this being the only MM game I never played (it never worked for me after i got it on its release day, but i kept it in hope :p )

It's a good game (even though dated) and it's especially worth playing if you're a fan of the NWC developers. It has all the charms that its predecessors had.

For the sake of others, please post a list of all the accommodations you made in order to get the game running. Thanks!

that's great, i cant wait to get a play-through now. Here is what i did to get it running.

Game version: v1, orignal disks (not GoG)
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
    Integrated GFX card (Q45/3 chip)
    DirectX 11

Patched the game up to the latest TELP patch. Launcher settings are:

    Disabled: Light Mapping and Fog
    Enabled: Nothing

Running in compatibility mode: XP Service Pack 3

Thats it. It does hang on the loading screen occasionally, but as far as I can tell its simply the graphic not refreshing on screen after it loads, alt-tabbing out and in resolves it. All the cut-scene videos and sounds are working great, just that one little hiccup when moving between areas with the load screen. Probably can be fixed but since everything else works I dont want to make it worse :p

I also see GM skill in Unarmored and Dodging is for the Druid class, finally they got some love! XD

It's installed to Program Files (x86)>3D0>Might and Magic IX and I don't have to give it special permissions to run, it'll run fine whether its in Admin or not.

Also, the autoexec.cfg file has a value for the BitDepth. Now, I'm unaware of what it defaults to but I do know that it'll only run for me when set to 16 and not 32. I changed this value back and forth a lot while testing different options. Might be worth noting.
