Major problems with MM9

Hello guys, i have recently bought MM9 from GOG and i have some serious problems with it. It keeps freezing at random times but especially when i attack. This make the game virtually unplayable because it either freezes completely or it takes forever to run again. Does anybody know a fix for this?

Which version of Windows are you running, and what are your compatibility settings?

I haven't tried running the game under Win8.1, but this might work.

The game has two engines. The game engine is mm9.exe. The graphics engine is lithtech.exe. Try changing the compatibility modes on both of them -- presumably to the same values. I'd think any of the WinXP selections would be acceptable.

It's also possible that a theme or widget on your desktop is the cause of the problem. Disable those if the compatibility mode switches don't fix it.

Excellent! Keep in touch.

The hefty pause is probably caused by the game shifting between from 3D engine to a flat renderer, and that's because our new graphics drivers have to 'downshift' dramatically to use the older routines this game employs. In short, it probably can't be helped without firing up a vintage machine.
