Don't Panic....

I'm thinking about this. We should be able to fix it but it will require some investigation and I'm having a busy week. The problem might be in the game or it might be in your graphics drivers. For starters, try using Mok's 'cshell.dll' at the link below. You'll find the original in your MM9\data folder.

No panic

im not, just thought that its a problem more hm urgent then, something like this for example "i bought MM9, how great bla bla bla" u know this is something i never had before with this game, so therefore i like to know what that is, or where there might be the problem, drivers are i think not the issue, i did try first installing when i did have older drivers, i updated them since no change its the same thing, had a retail copy of mm9 with czech language in it and plus HOMAM V like a bonus, no it was the other way around bought for my sis the HOMAM and there was a bonus of MM9 2 birds with one stone , and now i have also the GOG version and still the same thing, so its a bit frustrating both copys not exactly the same while the one in the box is update free means v1.0 this is fully updated v1.3 and the same problem occurs, so yes it may seem im a bit panicking but really im just anxious to know WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ?? Why the Loading screen in XP is black, why under water is black, why cant i play in night cause i cant see shit cause its black as like really DARK , ty all who are trying to work out what might be the problem and thank u for replying to my cause

I suspect that the problem with the water is also in the game engine...

... but that Mok didn't know about it and so didn't fix it. I don't recall any instances when one needs to see underwater in order to finish the game -- but it is fun.

there isnt a specific instance as i can correctly remember, but beet hoven, first so called dungeon theres is a way down to a nice monster and i want to kill that monster, but i cant get to it, because of the blackness, and the other reason why i want this fixed, if it could be, i want to go back sea monster and jelly fish hunting right at the beginnig on isle of ashes, but i think theres a way to kill them without going under water so, ill stick to the surface and kill them like this , nvm the thing is u helped me a lot even if the fix is not your doing, i dont care, thank u

I had the problem of being unable to see at night when I first loaded the game.

I solved it by doing something to the game controls which had the effect of increasing the screen brightness. See if you can get any improvement that way. The only downside is that the sky in Frosgard City is whited out, but that's a small price to pay.

what do u mean
05/08/2012, 04:14:38

    Tancred writes:

by game controls, - keyboard, graphics or what did u change and also i still have problems in the night time, only if ur in a dungeon u are immune to the effect of the Blackness , so if ure outside u still get the black, so the only thing after all what this cshell.dll repaired for me was the loading screen, nothing more, btw u have an underwater mission, right in the beggining, BEET HOVEN, yep u must go underwater for a short time to be able to finish this quest otherwise its not gonna happen, its not hard to do it, u need to only do a short trip underwater but when i did return from quest and u must go up the same way u came down, it can be really painful to get in the right spot but i did eventually so im through now, but as i said the BLACKNESS REMAINS
pls if u could remember exactly what u did, it would help me tremendously, ty

I changed the Video Options and Game Options
05/09/2012, 07:08:43

    Peter2 writes:

In the video options, I turned off Detailed Textures and Trilinear Buffering, and set the Gamma Correction as high as it would go.

In the Game Options, I turned off the Always Run and the Head Bob, and reduced the turn speed to about 25% and the mouse sensitivity to about 30%. The reduction in turn speed and mouse sensitivity is personal preference, but having the Head Bob on made me feel sick, and I got the impression that holding the Shift key down to run gave better speed than did having the Always Run option set.

Well...

    Tancred writes:

it didnt work for, it changed absolutely nothing, it even made it worse, i mean, turned off detailed textures, trilinear filtering, gamma as high as it went, and had black even in dungeons, and outside as well, so thats that, btw WTF changes the head bob option ?? i didnt feel any change, didnt saw any change at all, but it seems at least the running thing, there maybe u on to something, it seems like u really are running faster, will test this further, ty though for advice and cya

so thats why i didnt notice any change, i stayed still , thx for explaining, cya and also if somebody can think of something else to help me with this black thing i would be very much thankful, btw i think its got something to do with my compatibility with my graphics card and the game, maybe its not supported in any way, but its still pretty weird, that other aspects of the game are quite well, only the water and night time, dungs and and outside from dawn till dusk is everything cool, but enough of that, so if u can help, anybody, then pls do so, ill continue playing till then like this, ty everybody who tried help so far and thanks in front to everybody who will help in the future
