Ubisoft CDs; PAtch to 1.2 won't work

    I couldn't find my original 3DO disks, so I bought Ubisoft version from amazon. Now patch 1.0 to 1.2 won't work (even redownloaded one from Ubisoft website). Tried 1.3 on game without 1.2 installed (had to browse to /Ubisoft directory)and some files were updated and others not. Will this work properly? Do I need 3DO disks to make it all come together?

The point is that the patches don't work

    I have an old copy of 1.0-> 1.2 and the one I d/led from UBI. They dont work in the Prog Files\Ubi\MM9 directory. They've worked for me before in the Prog files\3DO\MM9 directory. But I can't get the 1.0->1.2 patch to work so the TELP patch is useless to me, right?

I'll try the File Library and see if your 1.0->1.2 works ...

    Can't Ubisoft do anything right? Not only do they not provide any decent new games, but they can't get the old ones right! When it comes to Might and Magic, they're about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

1.0->1.2 didn't work

    So apparently the 1.3 & 1.3a won't either. But the 1.3 told me (when I pointed it to the Ubi directory) that either 3 or 4 files WERE updated. So am I at least partially patched?

Yes, your game is partially patched...

Every region, huh?

    This sounds like the minisaves aren't being stored -- or perhaps they aren't being stored in the correct location. Look in your MM9\Minisaves folder and make sure that appropriately dated files are there.

    If they aren't there, search your computer to see if they are being stored somewhere else. If so then there's a glitch in your registry. If appropriate files *are* in the Minisaves folder then please verify that *all* regions are being affected. Although it seems unlikely, if only some of the regions are affected then it might mean that Ubisoft has done something to deny a particular strategy I used to correct scripts. It's worth looking into.

    If all the regions are affected and they aren't somewhere else then the problem is probably part of the game's difficulty with NTFS (assuming that you are using a NTFS partition). Try re-installing onto a FAT32 partition. Save your saves and minisaves to move to the new installation.

    Thanks.

No minisaves folder in this version of MM9

    I couldn't find where they're stored; I don't know the minisaves file extension to search for. My computers ARE ntfs, but in this case that doesn't seem to be the issue (?).

The minisaves in MM9 have extensions of .0, .1, .2 etc....

    Bones writes:

    The simplest thing to try first would be to create a 'Minisaves' folder in your base MM9 folder -- eg, alongside 'EAL' and 'Fonts'. See if that gets populated as you play.

    The updates RUDE, Scripts and Worlds are the most important ones. Two out of three isn't too bad. The updates Scripts without the other two *might* have caused some awkwardness.
