Invalid text errors

Okay, I've done several re-installs and right after I install the official 1.2 patch from 3DO, I get invalid text messages in the calendar when I rest the party and the clock is messed up on AM and PM in game screen. It looks like this:

When resting : !!!INAVLID TEXT!!! !!!INVALID TEXT!!! !!!INVALID TEXT!!!

    Game clock: 6:00 !!nv

Also, the sound synchs poorly and most of the spoken text elements with NPCs and the various dialogue from my playables just drops off.

These errors remain with 1.3 as well.

    Any ideas on this?

This happens when you apply the patch to a non-English version

    Have you tried...

    For the text problems:

    Installing in Safe Mode?
    Running on a FAT32 partition?

    For the sound problems:

    Disabling background programs?
    Turning off DirectX audio acceleration?
