in three occasions I haven't had to alt+tab out of the game however when I tried repeating these occasions I had to alt tab out to get it working again... Any explinations?
The first place was the Dranghiem prison when i enetered it from the village well...
the second place was the stockade place where you get the orbs of linking...
And the third place was the frost giants castle... but I dont really know if thats coincidence or... something wrong with my game/pc/vista screw up or... whatever... but still any ideas as to why the first time i enter these places after the loading screen it goes right to the game instead of having me alt+tab out?... just wondering

...have you tried running the game in WinXP compatibility mode? The only thing that is different when you have the problem is that the game is loading data into memory from the minisave files. The problem seems to be related to either file access or memory management -- both things that would be under control of the OS. Hope that gives you some good starting clues.

I was just wondering and I haven't tried any of the compatability modes mainly because:
1) the program works and I don't want it to stop working.
2) alt tabbing isnt too bad.
3) when i try to alter something on vista last time i had to alter several other things with it and it confused me (I don't really know that much about computers honestly.)
I just thought maybe i should bring it up

Compatibility mode shouldn't be too tricky.... 09/16/2008, 19:19:13

Navigate to your MM9 folder and right-click on mm9.exe (the real deal -- not any of your shortcuts to it) and choose the Compatibility tab. At least, I expect that this is the way it's done in Vista. I also expect that there will be a plethora of options, but plain vanilla WinXP is probably all you need. Do the same thing for lithtech.exe -- also in your MM9 folder.

Well I set the thing's compatability to windows XP (service Pack 2)(the only choice it gave me) but that didn't do anything or do i need to download the v1.3a patch first? because for me the game runs fine with the v1.2 patch so I just run it with that... but alt tabbing isnt too annoying. thanks for the suggestion though guess I'll just keep playing the way it is.

The 1.3a patch won't change the way the game runs. Only data was tweaked. Running the game in a (large) window might avert the need to alt-tab out and back in.
