TELP's 1.3 patch is posted! Drinks are on the house. Visit our Main Page, read, and follow the links. 06/14/2003, 22:06:29

Thanks to everyone for their patience. I had initially thought that I could turn out a quick patch in a month. Well, the game was much messier than I could have imagined. Fortunately, kkc came out with his patch and took the pressure off me. The game would have been long dead if not for his work. A toast to kkc. Cheers! There's not much more to say than what's been posted on our site. Feel free to post question here -- after you've read what's already written there. Thanks.

Sorry about posting this elsewhere. I did not intend to ruin your announcement. Since I seem to interfere too much, I should probably never post to the TELP Taverns again(nt) 06/15/2003, 12:05:34

Bones and others are the ones who put the hard work in on the 1.3 patch. I did no work on it. As soon as I devolve to the point where I want kudos for what I've done, my entire Web participation becomes vanity. I obviously have much work to do on making myself a better person.

So, you saw the patch here and posted a link over at the community. Did you know that Bones would be there 15 minutes later to post a thread? No. How could you have known? You did nothing to be sorry about. Frankly, Khalki should have left both threads up without comment. I have no idea why he felt the need to combine the only two threads that had been posted that day. You simply stated that the new patch was out and gave a link to this site. Any fan would have done the same if they had stumbled onto the patch as early as you did. I think it is Khalki who made a mistake. I see you on many sites. Does Bones use them all? Can he be expected to spread the word alone? I think not. Post on, Dave; MM fans need to find this patch and they may not know about this tavern. Cheers, kkc.

I don't think any of us can really appreciate the effort these guys (guys general, not just males) have gone to, for nothing more than the love of these games. You've probably heard it before but as far as I'm concerned you can't hear it enough: thankyou for all your unrewarded effort. This is what makes the Taverns such a great place. It's time we bought one back for the barkeeps!!

Seriously, if you could post some info on how this works or what a better way would be it would be very helpful. Thanks again for your eagerly awaited work.

I really think that the Might and Magic fans are the best fans in the world. I've been a game nerd most of my life, and have been in the game industry for about 7 years. I don't think I've ever seen and fans as dedicated or as passionate as you guys. I mean, who else would take it upon themselves to patch a game because they knew the developer wouldn't. Bones, Rustavius, and the rest of the patch group (sorry I don't know you by name!) did a great job. I for one know exactly how much work it takes to do what they did, and they will forever have my upmost respect for taking on such a tough project and seeing it through to the end. And I also want to tip my hat to the rest of the fans of Might and Magic. Even the ones who hated MMIX. It really makes me happy that someone can be so passionate about a game series as to be able to call us on the stupid decisions we made, and make sure we don't do them again. (Like the promotion lockout bug. technically wasn't a bug, as it we did it on purpose. looking back now though, it was a terrible design decision and we never should have done it in the first place!) So hopefully I'll be able to work on another RPG in the future. Until then, here's to you guys, the greatest fans in the world of gaming! Tim Lang

cuz only one annoying thing I was able to notice regarding MM9 was headbob option I hate due to inner ear damage in my youth.
Yes, those communities (TELPs and 3DO boards) are something special but games you guys made are just the best. Even Morrowind (no doubt, great game too) have better developed graphic details but much worse storyline and two levels worse questioning and journal system, just mess in place where it should be.
Hope you will make us gamers wonder soon with new great game!
GL in any efforts you'll do further

International versions compatibility... 06/16/2003, 14:40:29
|
Vitirr writes:
Hi, I'm a casual lurker here and I've decided to post when I've seen the patch info.First I think I have to thank the people who have worked on this project. It's incredible how fan community, in M&M and other games, keep working and working making those games better than developers created them. And specially with the M&M games, now that the NWC future is uncertain, (even more the RPG M&M future), is really good to see that the game is alive, the community isn't dead at all, and there's hope for new M&M games. You are doing for these games more than you can think, so being a M&M fan that fell in love with these games playing M&MVII, thank you thank you thank you very much. Now I'd like to ask about the compatibility with the international versions of the game. I'm spanish and I'm afraid I won't be able to enjoy this patch. Is it completely sure that it won't work with international versions?. Or it's just that you can't be sure that it will work, but perhaps it will?.
I'll check it anyway but I don't know if installing it will corrupt the game or I will notice all the bug fixed.
Anyway it would be hard to make a conversion?. I've read that Ice3 will be doing one for the french version, so how can that be done?. What skills you need to do it?, (programming or something... not archery or meditation ). Thank you in advance.

We didn't change the engine, and I wasn't sure if messing with the executable info would raise copyright problems, so I left it alone. Thanks for the comment though. Perhaps I should mention that the file properties will still say 1.2.OTOH, I did tweak the graphic of the main menu.
