In the video options, I turned off Detailed Textures and Trilinear Buffering, and set the Gamma Correction as high as it would go. In the Game Options, I turned off the Always Run and the Head Bob, and reduced the turn speed to about 25% and the mouse sensitivity to about 30%. The reduction in turn speed and mouse sensitivity is personal preference, but having the Head Bob on made me feel sick, and I got the impression that holding the Shift key down to run gave better speed than did having the Always Run option set.
