In Bones patch, the compass on that map is rotated so that N points to the left. This is indeed the best that could be done. I've tried rotating the map itself 90 degrees (as no doubt Bones have tried to do before me |

) but discovered that while the map is OK the arrow that points your location becomes totally useless. So rotating the map doesn't really help.
