However, I don't think that is the problem as I've played through the game before on a laptop - including this laptop. And the problem with Sturmford didn't appear until now (well into the game). The first problem I had with no dialogue box appearing was in Guberland City and I restarted a game after that. I've had no problems so far with the game hanging. After what you said about the quicksave, I'm suspecting that is the culpret, as I've never really played with the quicksave before but decided to use it this time as a convenience. Even my "safe game save" is corrupted, probably because there was an earlier quick save in it. If I get to where I absolutely can't continue my existing game, I may try again being sure to avoid the quicksave.
