1. Have you also assassinated the guy? The quest won't be acknowledged until you do both parts of it. 2. (and I know this is unlikely, but it has happened to people, including me, so I include it here): Did you take the correct dagger? The quest dagger is in the black chest. The one on the wall isn't the quest item. If neither of these helps, someone with more technical expertise will have to help you.
