Original Message: Experiment in Magic Part IV |

Without having to take the boat everywhere, our travel time was now miniscule so it was a long two-week wait for the War Council to begin. We decided to stretch our legs and went back to the Lich Lab for a bit of 'playtime'. Considering how hard it had been before Licha and Lichim had transformed, it was now very satisfying to ambush groups of six-plus. Some of them were so taken by surprise they actually died standing up. We set a beacon by the black chest and emerged at levels 90, 91, 91, 90. Note: Have tried to use Enchant to even out the team's experience points, but it doesn't appear to up the experience now at all. I'm not sure why I thought it did, earlier. Odd. Maybe it's all the poison gas we've been inhaling... We now have 20 in Elemental and 18 in Learning, each. At these levels, Elemental Bolt and Chain Lightning wield 25-200 damage, Aura gives 375 in protection, and Fleet Foot increases our speed by 175% and lasts for 175 hours! At the other end of the Dark Passage we were all sitting at level 100 with Learning-22, Meditation-15, HP-1000 and SP-1400. Our AC was up to 90. It costs around 60000 to train up one level. With the Capstone in hand, we walked boldy into Verhoffin Ruins for the second time. I'm sure I heard one of the Liches doing a rather mutilated Schwarzenegger impression (told you - I'd be back!) but then the Skellies broke through the ceiling and it was game on. Back in Arslegard we rocked up to the trainer and started shelling out the $$ for training. We were up to levels 126, 127, 127, 115 when we ran out of the 6.1 mil we'd had in the bank. (The next time I'm a millionaire, I'm hiring blokes to do this adventuring for me!) There was a crowd out by the fountain so we did a little song and dance act, and raised another 20 mil. Lichim's 115 was now 126. We all had Learning-25, Elemental-25, Meditation-20, Body Building-15 which gave us HP-1150 and SP-1850. Bath House: 130,131,131,130 Temple of Honk: 135, 136, 136, 135 Six Fires: 145, 146, 146, 145 (All Elemental is now at 30) Frosgard: 160, 161, 161, 160 (Meditation-25, Armour-20 Time to Slay a Dragon. Elemental Bolt, Poison Cloud and Paralyze seemed to deliver the most damage with the least taken, but even with hits of between 145 and 300, killing this beast took mind-numbingly forever. On the up side, with jazzed-up protection and Paralyze spells, we'd only had to cast Divine Intervention once. End levels were 161, 162, 162, 161. Training cost 95000 at 161. Claiming to have spent in excess of 30 mil on training, all up, would not be an exaggertion, I'm thinking. 1000 Terrors Cake-walk! We let the old boy pound on us until he vaporized then went about our tasks, unfettered. Unable to cast portals or set beacons, we did the first level then backed out into town for training. We all got to 170 with Light and Dark increased to 30 and returned for the final go. We strolled past all the shooty bits, annihilated most of the tenants with a flick of the wrist and tried not to mock the demons as they keeled over. Everyone knows how delicate a demon's ego is, after all. We didn't break the 200 hurdle, but still this was a good challenge. I would do it again |
