It sounds like something in the game is corrupted. Unfortunately, it sounds like it's probably in your savegame. Load an earlier savgame (one from before this severe problem) to see if the problem is there as well. If it is then the corruption is in the game files and a re-install should clear it up. If it isn't in your earlier save then the corruption is in your current save file. kkc might know how to correct that.
