The problem is that the game is sufficiently old that the "Detect" routines that operate during installation cannot recognise the modern versions of Direct X. It does not mean that Direct X isn't there. However, if you want the games to run well on XP, I would recommend that you upgrade them as far as possible, using downloads from the Telp File Library sites, and then apply Mok's patches.
