... (1) you need to download the patches, unzip them, and install them. First apply the v1.2 patch, then the v1.3a patch (this one supercedes the v1.3 patch). You can get all the necessary patches from the link on the main page of this site - just click the Main Page button at the top of the Tavern page. Read the notes first, and if you have any sign that they haven't installed, get back to us. (2) No, you don't need to play any part of the game before you patch it.
