I have installed MM IX from the platinum wdition disks onto the Win98SE machine that has run MM VI, MM VII, and MM VIII with no problems. Everything looks good on the install, the version number is listed as 1.2, but when I attempt to run it I get the ollowing error message from Lithtech:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vedor.

Clicking on the details button yields the following information, which means nothing to me but I'm including it in case it helps someone else: LITHTECH caused an invalid page fault in module at 0000:041f5ec0. Once I acknowledge this error, all of the MM IX windows shut down and I'm dumped back to the desktop.

The second problem I have is with the version 1.3a patch. When I attempt to run the patch, I go through all of the set-up questions, accept the license agreement, specify the path, etc. The the installation program indicates that it is procvessing the Art.rez file. No progress is ever indicated and either the Installation program locks up or the entire system reboots (I have no idea what determines which outcome occurs).

Anyone have any ideas I can try for either of these problems?
