Fighter becomes either Crusader or Mercenary.

Crusader becomes either Paladin or Ranger

Mercenary becomes either Assassin or Gladiator

Initiate becomes either Healer or Scholar

Healer becomes either Druid or Priest

Scholar becomes either Lich or Mage

You only get one chance at any promotion. If you want to promote two fighters through to Paladins, you have to nominate them both at the same time for the promotion quest to Crusader, then do the quest and return to Keith Bloodaxe for him to promote them both. Then you have to follow the same procedure with Grehgnak the Right to get the Paladin promotion.

You cannot promote one fighter to crusader, and then go back later and promote the other to crusader. Neither can you cross from one promotion tree to another. For example, a Crusader can never become a Priest or a Druid - unless you edit your character, or ask Klar to do it *grin*.
