Nvida detonator drivers versions between 41.09 and 43.51 (both inclusive) completely stuffed up DirectDraw (which handles all 2D graphic operations). I believe this has been fixed with the new 44.03 drivers, however I have not tried them yet to confirm this. I'm still using 30.82, which work perfectly with MMIX under DirectX9. Version 30.82 is the last one released that has been WHQL-certified, ie. approved by Microsoft (and hence fully DirectX compatible). Hope this helps.
