I started a new game a got Forad. I took him through the door and we ended up in Sturmford. Now I edit the save file. Forad is character FC. You can find him after the end of your normal 4 characters. Change the FC00 to 1901 and he becomes the mage from Thjorgard. You can change the picture by placing "4B02" at offset 8. Scroll down a little looking at the game keys. The last key you should see is "0204" which means that you are in Sturmford. Change this to "C401" which means that you've hired the mage. Load the game, talk to character '5'. Fire her.
