Is it realy so important to rush the patch out just because of the demise of the gang whose pressure on NWC to rush the game out made the patch neccesary?
You have the personal contacts to enough of the NWC guys no mater where they are and who they work for to get e-mail advice. You are also close enough to completion and you and your team already know enough about the SW design to get it right without much more hand holding.
You and you team have worked on this patch for many months now it would be a great pity to not make it as near 100% if a few more weeks will make it so.
Wish I could help but my knowlege of software is spelt Soft Wear..as it furry feet which as you know I frequently put in wrong place.
