I'm confused because Peter2 said:

I'm reposting my question here, because the other thread got too bulky
It looks like you were saying the character would have to have both GM Dark Magic and Expert Light Magic AT THE SAME TIME. I didn't think that was even possible. If so, which class would that be?

Not sure what the subject was, sounds like souldrinker. Only in MM6 can you have both light and dark magic.

The spell I was talking about is specific to MM9.

3DO changed the magic system for that game; fire, water, earth, and air were gathered together into Elemental Magic, and body, mind and spirit were gathered together in Spirit Magic. The spellcasters had different levels of access to Elemental, Spirit, Light and Dark, so a priest could GM Light magic but only have access to Dark magic at expert level, and it was vice versa for a Lich.

The only game in which a character had full access to Light and Dark magics was MM6.

You're welcome

3DO was going down the tubes quite quickly when they put out MM9, and it still needed a few months work doing on it when they were forced to put it on sale. Some people don't like it, and certainly it could have been a lot better. However, I've played it a few times and quite enjoyed it, although I don't guarantee anybody else will.

One thing that they did get right was the combat engine. There's one place down there you can tackle at any party level between about 11 and about 30, and it'll give you a damn good time.

I finish MM8, then I'll come back and beg you for tips on MM9 I've still got the Fire Plane to do ... like I said, trying to bump up a level or two first.

armaggedon in plane of fire

Come in invisible and go out a ways and pop as many armaggedons as you can. Then clean up. If you allied with Necros, you can pick up some necros in Shadowspire.

Souldrinker to heal as needed. Still have to kill some units, if you want to do a full clear.
