hej chris - i know its a late response. but maybe u need this hint left, and for all new guys having the same problem
theres a easy solution for this problem.
like on all old games - theres a russian person with great hotfixes  try to google "Sergeys Rozhenke aka Grayface MM8 patch"
for sure he got the same fixes for mm6+mm7.
