I have no idea what any of my scores have been from playing any of these games. My objective has always been to do everything doable and go everywhere I can reach, and to blazes with the score. I like your LeGuin quote. There's another most enjoyable short story on the theme "better to journey than to arrive" - although I exclude long-distance flights from that generalisation! It's called "The Hell-Bound Train", by Robert Bloch (the guy who wrote the novel on which the film "Psycho" was based), and IIRC it is anthologised in the collection "The Hugo Winners", edited by Isaac Asimov.
