I get the chalice from Bootleg Bay on my way to Freehaven, and by the time I get to Anthony Stone, I can cast LB outside the palace and do all his quests in one day. That's the first I've heard of the POT escaping. I think the addictive thing about MM6-8 is that it appeals to my curiosity. It's not a game that should be rushed as enjoying the adventure is more fun than getting a high score.
