Another Town Portal issue

    I can't be certain that's the reason, of course, but it's a very easy mistake to make.

    The "drink from the fountain" was MM8. In MM7, TP to Celeste & The Pit worked once you first visit the area "manually". For Celeste, this means using the teleporter in Bracada (after making the Light/Dark choice). For The Pit, first you have to walk into the area via the entrance in Bracada
