Thief can't steal?

Considering that Rogues and above in MM7 can cast a limited range of spells, I don't know whether or not this use of Ctrl-click is implemented in MM7. I thought it was, but now I'm not sure. If you find out, please could you let me know? Thanks.

Isn't CTRL+click just the same as quick spell?

    I think using the quick spell key while holding the cursor in the right enemy does the same thing as ctrl+click. Key is to aim with the cursor.
