This time I am planning an all might party of KPA and do not know who to complement the party wity a thief or a ranger. i need a damage dealer. axes are slow so i am leaning slightly towards a thief and dual wielding daggets. somehow i dont fancy two knights...

A friend told me a monk is a way better damage dedaler than a thief or a ranger...but when I looked at the skills I'm not that convinced...and what about combining unarmed with stuff? do the two add up? is it worthwile to develop both at max levels?

Possibilities

For damage, a Thief will outweigh a Ranger (in melee - obviously a Ranger can make best use of the high level bows but in a might party I find bow damage quickly becomes neglibible. You need good bows on everyone ASAP to pick things off from range when you are still low level, but a Thief can do that equally well). Dual daggers gives excellent high level melee damage

Or a second Paladin for extra healing power and stun/paralyze chance (also very useful in high level melee)

Two knights are two too many.

Any might party I might start (probably not) would start with a monk and a thief. I would perhaps include a paladin, but that would be because she is not a knight or an archer. The fourth member would probably be a second monk.

Where did I put that soapbox? Ah, there it is: Archers are not might characters. They are some kind of wimpy goodfornothing #&%/)>s, that don't have enought HP to be considered might characters and too few SP to be useful magic users. That makes them totally useless.

Well, at least, there's ONE thing we agree on!

... *but quietly sets fire to soapbox* ... In a magic-heavy party, I would prefer an archer to a monk any day. I find them very useful magic users, especially once they have access to Light magic and the Paralyze spell. A character doesn't need to be a hugely competent fighter if the opposition cannot hit back!
