Hireling information on the TELP MM7 site 05/25/2006, 03:08:53
|
RoK Blast writes:
Anybody interested in adding another update to the MM7 site? I'd like to add a bit more information to what's there. Specifically, which maps you can find which NPC's on, such as Emerald Island having only 26 of the 58 professions. The information available through NPCDIST.TXT (packed in Events.lod in the DATA folder) would seem to be useful to someone trying to 'mephisto' a particular follower type. I found this out trying to get a Sailor/Navigator/Pirate to reduce the travel time from Em. Is. to Harmondale (and editing one in didn't work, either - the date of arrival in Harmondale seems to be set for the 9th, no matter who you've got hired). Trying to find a Cartographer after leaving Em. Is. was likewise difficult - Stone City's the closest place to find one if you didn't get one in Em. Is.If anyone's interested in helping me take this on, I'll throw my email address up on a subsequent reply. (Or you can just pull it off one of my old posts if you're really enthusiastic!) Thanks in advance ;-)

Arrival in Harmondale is not set for the 9th! 05/25/2006, 06:03:04

Random Petulantilitarian Cupcakes the Harpsichordist writes:
Like others here, I've started many a game, and if I do everything the first day, I arrive in Harmondale on the 7th. On several occasions I've stayed on Emerald Island for a long time and I'm nearly certain that the game doesn't "time warp" your party back to the 9th of January, should you happen to have stayed beyond that.As an example, sometimes it is fun to spend weeks jumping and yelling in downtown Emerald Island. Also it is fun to jump and yell if there is a Game of Intellect, but be warned: the fun of jumping and yelling is diminished in the presence of a Game of Accuracy. Why, one could practically spend weeks, or even months, jumping and yelling. I jumped and yelled while I posted this, for instance. My roommates woke up and were not pleased about it, so they wrote my name on the board and I am in big trouble now. Drats.

I wont start editing the existing page, but I can put it up as a link from the NPC site, if that's ok with you? Let me know what you come up with, rather post here than mail.

I apologize for taking so long to get back to you, but I've got another new project (non-gaming) that took a few days. I'll get working on the Hireling locations data, and I'll post back here when I have it compiled (.txt and probably a .pdf, just in case) Please let me know if it'd be better in .htm/l, though my proficiency with that is less than expert.

Hireling Location *Spoiler* part 1 06/15/2006, 01:11:35
|
RoK Blast writes:
This is the first half of the file, since there's a limit on post size. Keep in mind that certain areas don't actually spawn peasants (The Barrow Downs, for example). I've modified the actual NPCDIST.txt by replacing the unit numbers with the area names, and I lumped all the miscellaneous identical areas into "All Others". Stone City is considered Area #39, and I moved it next to Avlee, #14. All the other areas from 15-76 are in the All Others column. The listing of Professions is the original order, by profession number used in the game code. I would be more than willing to help anyone willing to host this on a site by cleaning it up a bit more, but I figured I'd put this out before I got insane with it. Enjoy!
