My unofficial patch v1.2 08/01/2005, 02:05:09
|
Mok writes:
I finally found some time to upload new version of the patch. The link is the same. I called it 1.2 to avoid confusion with official patch 1.1. Changes from previous version: patch 1.1 is included, fixed Hour of Power (haste part), Caps Lock will toggle running/walking mode. Full changelog below:If you install the game on NTFS partition make sure you are logged as an administrator or your save folder might become write-protected. Changes from official v1.1:
- patch v1.1 is included in this one
- better 3D hardware support (Win2k/XP)
- better sound & video support (more recent Bink, Smacker and Miles Sound System libraries)
- removed buggy hard drive free space check
- fixed Hour of Power spell (Haste part wasn’t working). Thanks to Mike Kienenberger for the fix.
- fixed a saving game message in the Arena.
- fixed a bug which caused inventory corruption if you used Recharge spell on a wand with no charges. Now it will simply fail on such wands.
- the game will no longer generate wands with max number of charges = 0. It will be minimum 1 charge. Existing wands won't be upgraded.
- fixed a bug in Paralyze spell. It will not work on dead opponents anymore.
- you can toggle running mode by pressing caps lock key. -Mok

New bug found - Psychic Shock 08/01/2005, 06:34:36
|
Mok writes:
I just got a report from another forum about a bug in Psychic Shock spell. I looked at the code and it seems the spell causes only 12 + 1 point per point of skill instead of 12 + 1-12 per point of skill. It's very possible the bug is in also in MM6 & MM8. If anyone can confirm that please let me know.-Mok

Not much, I'd think. Perhaps interested fans would like to translate the involved text -- if that wouldn't make too much work for you, that is.

Patch also works fine for the german version but all texts are translated to english. Is there some way to restore the german texts but still use the patch?
A german version of the patch would be great if its possible.

Sorry for late reply btw... Install your german version, patch it to latest german patch (if any) and backup file Data\Events.lod. Now install my patch and restore your Data\Events.lod file. It should work now. Executable file contains some texts but nothing important ie. names of keys (space, pageup etc.), arcomage "player" and "enemy" and so on. Nothing very important.-Mok

This was a really great patch. I just wonder if there is possible in a feauture release to fix the Armsmaster/blaster bug wich causes the blasters to go crazy.
And the souljar bug to would be great. =) But I dunno maybe that's quite tricky cause 3do knew about it and couldn't fix it. Once again...
Cheers to you for making this great patch(es).

Out of Sight Patch! 12/27/2005, 13:11:48
|
Deadly Ramon writes:
I recently found an extra copy of this game at a local and long-established independent computer store, and walked away with it for just $8. I gave it to my little brother for Christmas, as he's enjoying, for the first time, the groundbreaking MM6 game, and while I replayed MM7 too early to take advantage of Mok's patch, I can at least rest assured that my little brother will not be so handicapped, and of course I will retain the patch in my own archives for that inevitable moment when I'll want to replay MM7 again! Thanks to Mok for all his time and trouble, and thanks to everyone involved in this forum and website for exhibiting tremendous enthusiasm for such a noteworthy if a bit commercially underappreciated series of CRPGs. I really appreciate it.

It works for XP in English. 01/17/2007, 16:35:01

Christy writes:
I wasn't able to get MM8 to play on a newer computer for a long time - I thought it was a problem with the CD driver being too new. But Mok's patch fixed the problem, whatever it was - whereas none of the other fixes I'd ever seen advertised could. So I think it's just something in the Italian version that's messing you up, not XP in general.Incidentally, I have all the service packs and patches for XP current.

There are only 274-kilobyte MM7.EXE of a Japanese version.
When your patch is applied to Japanese version MM7, the execution file becomes an English version.
The method of using your patch in Japanese is not found though I want to use your patch.
The following linked Websites are patches of the company that is the sales origin of MM7 in Japan.
MM7.EXE of a Japanese version is put in the file.
Is there a method of applying your patch to this execution file?
When it is possible to teach, it is glad though apologizes very much.
