. . . Ctrl-click, not Shift-click. This is only for a character with the Thievery skill, and can be used on an item you want to steal, or a person you want to steal from. As you can imagine, failure has adverse consequences! In MM6, you could use Ctrl-click in combat to select a monster on which to centre an area effect spell like Meteor Shower, if it was set as your quickspell. Considering that Rogues and above in MM7 can cast a limited range of spells, I don't know whether or not this use of Ctrl-click is implemented in MM7. I thought it was, but now I'm not sure.
