... *but quietly sets fire to soapbox* ...  In a magic-heavy party, I would prefer an archer to a monk any day. I find them very useful magic users, especially once they have access to Light magic and the Paralyze spell. A character doesn't need to be a hugely competent fighter if the opposition cannot hit back!
