I was wondering how should I play/approach this game for the first time? Should I use a faq? Or can I get most of the enjoyment out of the game without one? Thanks!

(some backgorund: I've played lots of RPG's in the past, usually console ones though. My favourite aspect of playing RPG's is taking a pathetic party and then turning it into near demi-god status).
