I create 5 different characters (over 5 different games), then I use a save game editor (MM8CHE) to make the first 4 joinable characters identical to the ones I created (this takes a while, but worth it), then I stick with this party for the entirety of the game (except for the brief moments where Overdune or Dyson are in the party).
