Original Message:   You can avoid the Lich Jar bug quite easily.
You can actually go and get the Soul Jars, although it is probably safer not to do this. What you must NOT do is complete the quest by giving them to Maximus until you have got the Lich Jars and completed the Lich promotion quest.
