Original Message:   No way , there're whole cultures who considered ranged as cowardly
weapons - Vikings,Anglo-Saxons,Samurai,Maori etc. It was a matter of religious significance. You can't ascend to Valhalla as a shooter ;close mêlée combat was the way to release your righteous fury on wrong-doers, and in religious meaning to build-up the level of blood lust required to become warrior.

So it has strong archetypal background , something which has foundation in human psyche.As old nobility used to say all those shooters brought down 'The Age of Chivalry'
