The only program I've installed recently is the Foxit Reader (like Adobe but much better) and, of course, the updates for Windows but those are set to manual and I read what each one does to avoid things that might cause problems. Of course, being only semi-literate when it comes to computers there could be an update that's interfering but I wouldn't have an idea as to what it'd be. Going to Safe Mode removes about 2/3 of the programs that'd normally be listed in Windows Task Manager and in that mode I tried isntalling under my name and as admin, using all four types of possible compatibilities, and I've even tried running the programs off the dvd, copied the files onto the HD and tried starting it from the HD, and I've even sent shortcuts of the setup.exe to the desktop to try and start it from there too. I'm starting to feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone Thanks for the ideas. |
