I tried entering and leaving the Pit (picking up my Dark Magic reward) and the game is fine once I'm out of there. I'm now wondering if it would have done that all along, except that was the first time I tried to access my inventory while in the Pit. It could be that's why this bug went unnoticed as well? Zedd - could you have simply never opened your inventory or character info screens when you were in the Pit? Apparently there is no problem once I leave it (as long as I don't open it in there).
